Senior Thesis Collection

Mood Board: My mood board for this collections emphasizes my personal taste and style of the MOD movement from the 1960s. I also have personal imagery from my baby albums to highlight how my personal transformation started from birth.
Illustrations: My illustrations for this collection go in order of each look and emotion, Grief, Envy, Inadequacy, Desire, and Acceptance (from left to right).
Technical Flats
Look 1: Grief
This look was inspired by the classic suit dress, or two piece set that fashion houses such as Chanel, Prada, and Dior frequently revamp and update each year. I created this look in the beginning of my trauma therapy journey, and it was the first piece I made in my design career that lacked color. Overall self explanatory, this monochromatic black dress represents the emotion of Grief.
Look 2: Envy
This look was inspired by one of my favorite silhouettes, a classic, yet so easily manipulated to create a fresh take. Both the lining and fashion fabric used in this look was found at my internship, where I purchased many different fabrics to keep in my library. I am constantly finding ways to reuse and recycle fabrics, thread, trims, etc. from past projects in order to become more sustainable in my designs.
Look 3: Inadequacy
This look was inspired by the storybook character Madeline, as well as another classic silhouette from the 60's. I created this design in my flat pattern class, and enjoyed playing around with and over emphasizing the use of yokes. A light weight, melton wool was used in the fabrication of this look, as well as the fuchsia satin fabric used in Look 4 in order to repurpose some of the fabric I already had.
Look 4: Desire
This look was inspired by designer Giambattista Valli. I have always found his use and manipulation of tulle to be incredibly fascinating,
so I strived to achieve a ruching effect as a top layer across the satin, pencil skirt dress I made.
Look 5: Acceptance
This look was inspired by one of my favorite designers, Hubert Givenchy. Givenchy's design for Audrey Hepburn in the opening scene of Sabrina, one of my favorite movies, is the definition of elegance and class. For the final look of my collection, I wanted to
capture that same essence through this dress, using a repeat pattern that I designed myself.
